KARACHI: V.A. Jafferey Memorial Cup will be revived, the Karachi Bridge Associates (KBA) announced on Monday.

V.A. Jafferey remained a highly active member of the Pakistan Bridge Association, later elevated to the Pakistan Bridge Federation in late 1980s and early 1990s during the days of S.S. Jafri.

The KBA will first hold a four-session Fintex Open Pairs Challenge at Aslam Hall, starting on May Day while V.A. Jafferey Memorial Cup will be staged on May 3 and 4.

The organisers have offered very attractive cash prizes to the winners.

Entries for both events can be conveyed to Shaikh A. Muqeet, KBA secretary, on 0321-8283833 and 0345-2441745.

In the meantime, brothers Shameem Haider and Ishrat Hussain won the KBA weekend Scramble Mitcheal Moment Bridge tournament.

The duo put up a magnificent performance, outscoring other pairs by virtue of their excellent game and approach to the natural bidding system.

Ishrat and Shameem scored 65.09 per cent for the prime honour. Ghufran Ashraf and Anisur Rehman are showing consistency in their form. Once again they finished as runners-up with 64.29 per cent followed by Khalid Mohiuddin and Gulzar Bilal (59.52 per cent).
