LAHORE: A delegation of Indian Old Ravians has reached Lahore to attend the 150-year celebrations of the Government College University, Lahore.

The Old Ravians have come on the invitation of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleequr Rahman.

According to a press release, Old Ravians Union Honorary Secretary Khalid Manzoor Butt along with members of the GCU Welfare Society welcomed the seven-member delegation including retired Indian Air Wing Commander Iqbal Singh, retired Maj-Gen Ramesh Chandra and retired Brig Harcharan Ghumn at the Wagah border.

Speaking on the occasion, Iqbal Singh laid a particular stress on initiating academic relationships between the universities of Pakistan and India to promote love and friendship among the youth of both countries.

“We are the last generation in India which has emotional link with Pakistan, but our younger generation knows nothing about Pakistan,” he added.

Iqbal Singh paid a tribute to efforts of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleequr Rahman and Khalid Manzoor to always keep the Indian Old Ravians attached with their alma mater.

Eminent Indian author and Old Ravian Pran Nevile, 92, has also arrived to attend the GCU sesquicentennial celebrations

These Old Ravians will attend a grand annual reunion of Old Ravians on Sunday (today) at the GCU Oval Ground.

Hundreds of Old Ravians are also coming from the US, Canada and other parts of the world to attend their grand reunion dinner which would be followed by a musical show.
