WE are hearing and reading that dollar-rupee parity has come to as low as Rs97.60. Well done, Ishaq Dar! Hats off to you! But who are the beneficiaries of this outstanding work: the moneyed class, the rich and usurpers of ill-gotten money?

The common man has benefited in terms of a few paisas’ fall in POL prices. Nothing else has come down. The bus or train fares are the same. The price of potatoes, onions and tomatoes remain unchanged, while electricity rates have also been maintained.

I urge the commerce minister to do the needful or maybe the district administrators or the price control authority (if we have one) should take the necessary measures.
