ISLAMABAD: Army emerged as the superior outfit here on Friday when they outplayed HEC 27-17 in the final to win the 13th National Men’s Netball Championship at the PSB Complex on Friday.

Army’s Abdul Haq, Zahid Iqbal, Mohammad Khusheed and Usman Basheer performed superbly on the court and never allowed the HEC players to dominate the proceedings in the final.

In the third position match played between the Airforce and Police teams, Airforce won by 34-27.

Prof. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) were the cheif guests in the closing ceremony and distributed the trophies, medals and certificates among the successful teams.

President PNF Zafar Iqbal Awan, Mudassar Arain, Malik Sameen Khan, Yaqoob Malik, Muhammad Akram Khan, Secretary, PBF, Brig. Ghulam Jilani, Director Army Sports Directorate, Col. Qaiser Mustafa, Madam Shaheem Khan, DG Sports, HEC and other diginitaries were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Ganjera in his speech announced that the PSB facilities will be provided free of cost to every national sports federations and departments.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mukhtar said the HEC will orga-nise the National Women’s Championship in collaboration with the Pakistan Netball Federation.

Final standings: Army (1st), HEC (2nd), PAF (3rd), Police (4th), Sindh (5th), Punjab (6th), KP (7th), Fata (8th), Balochistan (9th), Islamabad (10th).
