ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army and Police won both their matches on the opening day of the 13th Men’s Netball Championship here on Tuesday.

After beating Higher Education Commission (HEC) 33-15 in the first game of the tournament, Army thrashed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 49-7 in their second game of the day at Hamidi Hall in PSB Sports Complex.

Police, meanwhile, started off their campaign with a 46-2 drubbing of Balochistan before overcoming FATA 35-7.

The other two matches on Tuesday were decided by much narrow margins with HEC bouncing back from their loss to Army to edge past Punjab 20-19 while Pakistan Air Force scraped past Sindh 29-26.

Earlier, CDA chairman Maroof Afzal was the chief guest for the opening ceremony with other dignitaries including PNF chief Zafar Iqbal Awan and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) director general Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera also present.
