MINGORA: A large number of poets, writers and local people attended a poetry session held in Zarakhela area of the district after a long time.

The event, organised by Ghurzang Adabi Tolana, was presided over by prominent Pashto poet Abdur Rahim Roghani.

The local elders also showed happiness over holding of the event. The area hosted a poetry session after a long time, said Kishwar Khan, a local elder. He added that poets were spreading the message of peace and love through their poetry.

“Such sessions should also be held in future for promotion of Pashto literature,” Mr Khan said. He added that there was a lot of talent among the local people that could be polished by providing proper platform to them.

Mr Roghani and Hayat Khan of Ghurzang Adabi Tolana said on the occasion that poets described society in their poetry. They wanted to convey the message of peace to people of the area and to promote Pashto literature, they added.

They said that it was a good sign that they held the poetry session after several years. They would continue their struggle to provide a proper platform to poets of all the districts of Malakand division and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, they said.

Poets from different areas of Malakand division including Hanif Qais, Mohammad Iqbal Iqbal, Mohammad Akbar Mano, Iqbal Jan, Asghar Khan and Shah Hussain enthralled the audience with their poems.

PROTEST: The sacked employees of Working Folks Grammar School, Panr staged a protest demonstration outside Swat Press Club on Monday.

Carrying placards and chanting slogans against the provincial government, the protesters were demanding restoration. They said that they were appointed in the school some seven months ago but they were not given their monthly salaries.

Addressing on the occasion, Farhad Ali Bacha, Sohail Khan and Sajjad Ali said that they were terminated by the administration when they demanded salaries. They demanded of the provincial government to restore all the sacked employees till April 15, 2014. They threatened to go on hunger strike if their demand was not accepted.

MNA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Saleemur Rahaman said here on Monday that there was unity among the parliamentarians and workers of the party.

Talking to journalists at Swat Press Club, he said that there was no forward bloc in PTI. He said that PTI chairman Imran Khan removed reservations of some of the members of provincial assembly, who had formed a forward bloc. “There is no grouping in the party in the province,” he added.

Mr Rahman said that PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was struggling to eliminate corruption in all departments. He said that construction work on Landaki-Kalam Road would be started soon to promote tourism in the district.
