KARACHI: Former Pakistan hockey captain and chief coach Islahuddin Siddiqui was robbed of his vehicle, cash and mobile phone in the DHA Area of Karachi on Saturday.
Islahuddin, who led Pakistan to World Cup triumph in 1978 in Buenos Aires (Argentina), was kidnapped from outside his house in Khayaban-e-Mujahid at gunpoint by three robbers.
He remained in the captivity of the armed men in his Vego for 30 minutes before they dropped him off and fled away, the former hockey great said.

Few years ago when Inzimam was still playing international cricket, his car was also stopped and he was robbed in Karachi. But someone among the looters recognized him and after apologizing, respectfully returned all his belongings.
I guess the gangs be it TTP, MQM or someone else, have decided to treat all the citizens even handedly.

Serves him right for ignoring the Quran that says life is not play and amusement.
Pity he wasted his life in play rather than learn how to defend himself.

While, I am sorry, it happened to him. He's a corrupt man, had a few petrol stations and illegal wealth, much beyond his known source of income.
A person who should not have made Collector of Customs-most undeserving!

Mr. Islahuddin, could you help us?
there was an international hockey match abroad that we watched on tv, this was over 30 years ago. pakistan was playing either west germany or australia, the stage was either semi-final or the final, the score was zero-zero, when you moved away from your usual right-out position, came to mid-field on the left side, received a pass from the right, dribbled past two defenders, and scored the winning goal. the crowd and pakistan erupted!
precisely which game was that?
thank you

Where are the rangers? They are a huge burden on Sindh government but when will they start doing something meaningful other than taking over parks and other open spaces to build their camps.
Sorry Islah Sahab, don't waste time going to a police station. They will ask you for the proof where you got the cash and car from. It is less painful to get robbed by the thugs but getting robbed by these agencies is thousand times worst.
Again, very sorry for the trouble.

This guy should be and is the pride of country. But I suppose the robbers are equal opportunity provider.
I am just glad that they didn't hurt him. BTW does anyone know a family, even a single family who's at least one person has not been robbed? Sad state of country.

@AbbasToronto: Your comment is absolute nonsense. Playing is a profession by all means and your context is incorrect. The reference of play and amusement in the Quran is for people who reject the Quran and look the other way.
