MITHI: Three women and a child died in the drought-hit Tharparkar district on Thursday. Officials seeking anonymity blame the deaths on substandard medicines being supplied to hospitals.

According to reports, a child, Dingo Kolhi, died in a village of Nagarparkar tehsil, Taran Goswami, 45, died in the Civil Hospital Mithi (CHM), Ms Malookan, 80, wife of Gordhan Bhil and resident of Kapusar village also died in the CHM, and Ms Harmi, 40, wife of Kalo, died in her Sajaee village in Nagarparkar tehsil afer she had been discharged from the CHM on Wednesday.

With the rise in temperature, scores of residents of various villages of Thar, including children and women, are suffering from malaria, gastroentritis, diarrhoea, TB and other diseases.
