TIMERGARA: Awami National Party’s spokesman Senator Zahid Khan has said that ANP would strongly resist the division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and creation of Hazara province.

Addressing a ceremony after inaugurating supply of natural gas to Munjai and Baroon villages on Wednesday, he termed the passage of resolution by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly concerning creation of Hazara province a conspiracy against Pakhtun nationality.

He said that the coalition partners in the province had been playing the role of ‘Mir Jaffar’ and ‘Mir Sadiq’ and wanted to divide Pakhtuns.

Lower Dir ANP president Zahir Shah, Ayub Khan, party workers and notables of the area attended the function.

The spokesman said that 450 gas connections would be given to people of Munjai and 750 to Baroon.

He said that ANP had raised the issue of $1.5 billion aid in Senate. He claimed that the world powers wanted to push Pakistan in war in Syria.

“The war between Saudi Arabia and Syria will badly affect Iran, and in turn Pakistan,” the senator said. He said that the government should prove its democratic credentials by taking the nation into confidence on the issue of $1.5 billion aid.

WOMEN’S PARTICIPATION IN POLLS: The Lower Dir administration and representatives of civil society on Wednesday agreed to work collectively for ensuring participation of women in coming elections by creating awareness among people in this regard.

This was decided during a meeting of voter education committee, Lower Dir, held here with district election commissioner Mohammad Nasir in the chair.

Members of the committee, including Ibrash Pasha, Aurangzeb, Ihsanul Haq, Akbar Khan, Arshad Khan and additional assistant commissioner Shah Jamil, attended the meeting. The participants agreed that being citizens of Pakistan all women should be empowered to exercise their right to vote.

The district election commissioner asked representatives of the civil society and political activists to play active role in voter registration.

He said that the administration would take steps to ensure women’s participation in election.

He asked the participants to educate people of the area politically.

The meeting decided that collective efforts would be made for women’s participation in election process.
