Nine killed, 34 injured in Sindh road accidents after rains

HYDERABAD: Nine people were killed and 34 others injured in three separate road accidents at National Highway on Monday morning because of rains and fog, police said.

Seven people were killed and 26 others were injured near Dinar Shah village within the remit of Matiari police station when one coach from Sukkur destined for Karachi overturned due to rains and slippery road and was hit by another coach going to Karachi from Sadiqabad.

SHO of Matiari police station Asad Paryal said that passengers who were travelling in coach (PAO-178) coming from Sukkur fell prey to the accident while all passengers of the other coach (BU-222) remained safe in the accident.

Earlier, a trailer (JUZ-2526) and a truck (TKF-566) collided with each other on the same road and the truck rammed into roadside tree.

Bodies and injured were taken to Matiari Taluka hospital and Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) Hyderabad where four deceased were identified as Rani, 45, wife of Lal Bux Shaikh, Fayyaz Arain, 30, son of Ameer Bux, Hoat Arain, 60, son of Sultan and Aijaz Bhatti, 50.

Another three including a woman could not be identified. However, 26 injured including two children were being treated at both the hospitals.

Meanwhile, one man was killed and four others including a child were wounded when a van (JF-1851) bound for Sukkur from Hyderabad overturned due to rains near Miani Forest within the jurisdiction of Chalgari police station, police said.

Body and injured were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital where the deceased was identified as Anwer Ahmed, 55, son of Mohammad Suleman. Four others who sustained wounds include Ghulam Shabbir, Ghulam Ali, Nazeeran and two-year-old Yasmeen.

Moreover, a man died and four others injured when a van (CN-9143) overturned on the National Highway at Talibul Maula Colony within the jurisdiction of Budhani police station. The van was going to Sanghar from Hyderabad when the accident took place.

Injured were taken to the LUH. Deceased was identified as Ameer Hussain Shah, 25, son of Sultan Shah while four others including Najaf Ali Shah, Ali Shah, Syed Nazeer Hussain and Syeda Tauqir Zehra were being treated at the hospital.
