TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra Sadar police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang that used to swindle millions of rupees from people, mostly in Sindh, by selling them fake gold coins.

The gang used to call buyers from different cities to Pirmahal or Gojra and showed them real gold coins, saying that they were excavated from their old house.

However, at the time of transaction, they used to exchange real coins with fake ones and sold them against millions of rupees.

Gojra ASP Dr Rizwan told a press conference that police had arrested Naeem of Chak 242-GB, Ramzan of Chak 370-JB, Shaukat, Eisa, Irfan, Shah Ali, Munir and Khalid of Chak 95-JB and recovered 20kg fake gold coins and dozens of stolen motorcycles from them.

SUICIDE: A 35-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at Chak 321-JB Seowal.

According to Sadar police, Shabana Kausar, wife of farmer Abdul Razzaq, had gone to visit her parents' house when her husband and other family members were at work in farmland. Later, Razzaq sent their 10-year-old son Ali Raza to check whether she had returned home or not.

Raza claimed that her mother shot herself dead at home with his father’s rifle in his presence. The deceased was mother of five children.

ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist died in a road accident here.

Police said Ali of Chak 333-GB was on the way to his home from Toba Tek Singh when his motorcycle was hit by a car coming from the opposite direction near Chak 349-GB on the Toba-Khikha Road. As a result, he was seriously injured. He was shifted to the DHQ hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
