HYDERABAD: A former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) taluka naib nazim, Shahid Sheikh was gunned down in Tando Adam, Sanghar district by unidentified persons Monday night.

The former naib nazim of Tando Adam was brought to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) city branch of Hyderabad where he was pronounced dead.

He was 45 and breathed his last while being shifted to the hospital.

“He was gunned down in main bazar near his residence in Tando Adam,” said MQM MPA from Hyderabad, Rashid Khilji, who was present at the hospital.

Reports said that the incident took place on Jinnah road in the main bazaar where his house is also located.

Another version was that he had left his home to visit his mother. It was learnt that he had returned from Karachi after a long period.

Police are not sure about the number of assailants and said that their faces had been covered.

He had served as taluka naib nazim after being elected in party-less local bodies elections in 2005 when the district was headed by a PML-F backed district nazim.
