Pakistan yet to commit to cricket events in Bangladesh

KARACHI: Pakistan is still to commit to the World Twenty20 and the Asia Cup in Bangladesh in March and will consult the government about sending a team due to the continuing political unrest in the host nation.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official told Reuters on Thursday that his organisation was concerned about the situation because many of the protests in Bangladesh were being aimed at his country.

The board will consult ICC, ACC and Pakistan government regarding their participation in Asia Cup and ICC World T20 championship being staged there, said a statement issued after a meeting was held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore under the chairmanship of Najam Sethi.

The inter-management committee of the cricket board was given a detailed briefing on the upcoming tournaments scheduled in Bangladesh.

The committee was also briefed on the current status with regard to the litigation in Islamabad High Court (IHC)– Reuters/APP

Pakistan should refrain from visiting Bangladesh as that country is not safe for tourist. ICC should move all international tournaments scheduled in Bangladesh.

BD is not safe, skip the tours, player's safety should come first. BD has derailed from the track to progress by the idiotic actions taken by the current government there. Don't take any chances, stay home.

Pakistan is committed to play in a country whose cricket team is considered to be third class if compared with other leading cricketing nations. And that third class team refused to play cricket--on the pretext of security situation--in the very same country that always supported them on every platform. Aren't we Pakistani over generous or over-committed to Bangladesh? I guess we are least concerned about the safety of our players.

For the safety of players, Pakistan should not send team to Bangladesh for both T20 and Asian Cup. Some other countries are also considering bycot of these events. Moreover, protests in BD are indirectly against Pakistan. Even its security personnel should not be trusted to protect Pakistan Team.

there is absolutely no need to play there. They have been burning our nation's flag and our players wont be safe there. It would be wise to skip the tour at all costs. Take stand PCB.

All said and done, the current PCB and its movers and shakers do not have the necessary guts and the right grit to confront the big brother' on any cricket forum in the world. Based on their historical data, they will succumb to the dictates of the big brother in the up coming ACC meeting as well. Only time will tell if Najam Sethi and party will be able to match their words with solid and tangible action on the ground or not?

banladesh is the country where it's arrogant public take everything in their own hands they have even thrown rotten eggs on the Windies and now their hasina is showing her real face so I would strongly suggest not even Pakistan all other teams must not visit this country for at least five years.

It was Pakistan who actually I must say brought this trash (bangladesh) in to the cricket world otherwise this country's cricket team was not even worth playing a city match in their own land or poor and now they are behaving like a world class team which they are not and they will never be one.
