MINGORA, Oct 23: A local court granted Matta police three-day physical remand of six accused in a swara case here on Wednesday.

Police officials said that they had arrested six accused jirga members identified as Salar, Suleman, local cleric Maulvi Fazal Jamil, father of affected girl Sherzada, Mohammad Iqbal and his son Habibullah for organising a jirga to settle a family dispute at the cost of giving a minor girl in swara.

The officials said that the jirga was held on Oct 6 and it decided to give a seven-year-old daughter of Sherzada, resident of Bazkhel area, in marriage to 15-year-old son of Mr Iqbal.

They said that they conducted raid on Tuesday in the area and arrested the jirga members and parents of the girl and boy. They said that all the six accused were presented before the court of judicial magistrate, Matta, on Wednesday that gave all the accused in the custody of police on three-day physical remand.

DENGUE CASES: Thirty-three more people tested positive for dengue fever at Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital, Swat, on Wednesday.

Confirming this, focal person for dengue emergency unit Dr Wasil Khan said that 132 patients were under treatment at the hospital while 28 were discharged during last 24 hours. He said that 16 patients, including three women, were in critical condition and they had been admitted to high dependency unit of the hospital.
