THE State Bank of Pakistan (Banking Service Corporation) announced posts of Officer Grade-3 (Assistant Director) through the newspaper last October. The written test was conducted on Dec 16 by the National Testing Service throughout the country.

Subsequently, successful candidates were called for interview in March 2013 and offer letters were to be issued. It has come to us as a bolt from the blue that the State Bank, without assigning any reason, has announced through its official website that the posts in question would be re-advertised.

The SBP is a premier institution where transparency and meritocracy are highly promoted. But cancellation and re-advertisement of posts whose recruitment process was almost complete have surprised us while transparency in the process has been put into question.

It is quite depressing to go through the recruitment process once again when you have already qualified for all the stages and when only offer letters were eagerly awaited.

We appeal to the SBP governor to kindly look into the issue as the future of many eligible and competent candidates has been put at stake.
