THIS is apropos the news report (Aug 22) regarding removal of gypsum factories outside populated areas. In my opinion, this equally applies to all other places in the country where such factories are located in densely populated areas.
For example, the SITE industrial area in Karachi and Askari Cement at Wah are located close to populated areas and the dust and smoke emitted from there are directly affecting people in the surrounding areas.
Moreover, chimneys emitting toxic smoke and dust must be provided with specified absorbents.
At the same time, chemically-polluted water must not be allowed to be released into open drains or nullahs as this too causes many ailments.
