ACCORDING to your news report (July 27), 568 people have been detained at internment centres on terrorism charges by our government in Fata and Pata.

Some people were kidnapped more than 10 years ago (by our security agencies) and detained in these internment centres without being formally charged. They have been kept in the most inhuman conditions.

Some of them died due to malnutrition, physical and mental torture.

Their family members were not informed of their whereabouts.

Our Supreme Court, which is the protector of our fundamental rights, is doing an excellent job in tracing our missing persons. Last year they traced 10 people who were acquitted by the court but were kidnapped by our security agency outside the Adialla prison.

When they were produced before the Supreme Court bench, they were in bad shape.

Some were walking with great difficulty and one was in a wheel chair. They were admitted to a hospital on the orders of the Supreme Court, out of which three died due to malnutrition and physical torture The family of these three people should sue the federal government for murder.

Our parliament should make strict laws to punish terrorists.

Our law-enforcement agencies should be able to produce enough evidence against the detainees in the court of law so that they do not get acquitted.

I would appeal to the government to close down these internment centres and produce these people in the court of law if they have enough evidence against them.

Stop torturing them. This is against international law.
