LAHORE, July 11: Iqbal Town SP Toseef Haider dismissed five policemen and awarded various punishments to eight others of Iqbal Town, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Sandah and Gulshan-i-Iqbal police stations on Thursday.

According to a press release, the SP dismissed head-constables Khalil Ahmad and Muhammad Afzal and constables Qadeer, Qasim and Sajid for negligence, misuse of authority and willful absence from duty.

He also reverted head-constable Asghar Ali to the rank of constable for poor performance and dereliction from duty.

He forfeited two years service of naib moharars Shahid Ali and Irfan of Gulshan-i-Ravi police station for illegally detaining a citizen. The SP also fined Rs5,000 each to both constables.

He gave punishments of reduction in pay and fine of Rs10,000 each to five constables of Mohafiz Squad of the Gulshan-i-Ravi police station. Constables Abdul Azeez, Hasan Anwar, Asif, Rafique and Qaiser failed to control crimes in their respective areas.
