LAHORE, July 5: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Babar Awan said on Friday that the committee made by the government to probe treason proceedings against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf was unconstitutional.

He told reporters at the Lahore High Court that if the government was serious about taking up the charge, it should file a complaint before the court concerned to get the proceedings started under Article 6 of the Constitution.

To a query about power crisis in the country, he said the prime minister should announce construction of Kalabagh Dam. When asked as to why the PPP government did not construct the dam, he admitted the failure of his party.

He hailed All Parties Conference announced by the PML-N government, however, said the conference would lose its effectiveness if militants were not invited. Mr Awan said the government had replaced the mud begging-bowl with a new one made of stainless steel.
