MORE than two decades ago the Hawkesbay scheme was offered to the public. But, surprisingly, still there are no signs of development.

Those who were privately allotted or had purchased land and also KDA employees who were allotted the plots have either died or many are in their old age, looking forward to see the possession of their respective plots so that they could solve the problem of permanent accommodation.

But here the government is silent over this core issue. When the scheme was introduced, it was claimed that it would be a new Clifton.

In fact, it was rightly believed by the citizens that it would be a new Clifton due to its location near sea.

It is, however, known that some interested people, who had greedy eyes over the Hawkesbay scheme do not want the project to be completed.

They want the people, who have earlier been allotted or bought the plots in Hawkesbay scheme, should sell them on a cheaper price.

This was done within an objective that when they would have a complete hold on these plots/lands, then any development is done and completed. The caretaker government is requested to look into the matter.
