KARACHI, March 11: Renowned television actress Tahira Wasti passed away here on Sunday.

She was 68. She is survived by a daughter and a son. She had fallen ill a week ago and could not recover from the illness.

Tahira Wasti began her television career in the ’60s with her husband Rizwan Wasti, who died last year.

Early on in her career she was a newscaster, like her husband.

Tahira Wasti acted in and wrote many plays for Pakistan Television.

She shot to fame in a play titled Afshan in which she played the role of Najmus Sahar.

Some of her other memorable plays were Aakhri Chatan, Shama and Shaheen.

Tahira Wasti’s daughter has also performed in some TV plays.
