LAHORE, Oct 18: A young married woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her father for ‘honour’ at Khurdpur village in Sundar area on Tuesday.

The suspect later courted arrest along with the knife he used to kill his daughter, confessing his crime.

Allah Jewah, the victim’s father-in-law, told Dawn at the Jinnah Hospital’s morgue that the accused, Maqbool Ahmad, attacked his daughter ‘R’ with a sharp-edged weapon and killed her.

He said Maqbool nursed grudge against his daughter who had “gone missing” from her husband’s house for 15 days.

The police said Maqbool had brought “R” back to his house a few days ago.

The body was handed over to the victim’s family after autopsy. A case has been registered against the accused on the complaint of victim’s husband Mudassir Abbas of Manga Mandi.

STRANGLED: A middle-aged factory owner was found strangled at his business place in Shadipura locality of Baghbanpura on Tuesday.

Baghbanpura SHO Shakeel Ahmad said Muhammad Hafeez (56), father of two, who dealt in iron bars, left his home on Monday morning for his office but did not return.

As Hafeez’s wife made a call on his cell phone it was responded by a stranger who after introducing himself as Ilyas asked her to send the victim’s motorcycle at a filling station as he (Hafeez) needed it. The victim’s wife did what she was told to do.

Later, the victim’s cell phone was powered-off and there was no clue to his motorcycle.

The SHO said the same man (Ilyas) phoned Hafeez’s wife from the victim’s cell phone around 5am and told her that Hafeez had been killed and his body was lying in his office.

Shakeel said a case had been registered against the caller on the complaint of victim’s brother Mahmood.

He said the circumstances surrounding the death were being investigated.

ACCIDENT: An old man was found dead on a road in Manga Mandi on Tuesday.

Police said the man identified as Sohna, a local, was hit by some vehicle.

The police handed over the body to the family of the deceased after legal formalities.

BODY: The body of a 65-year-old man was found in the city canal in Muslim Town on Tuesday.

Muslim Town police said a post-mortem examination would determine the exact cause of his death as there were no marks on the body.
