KARACHI, Aug 23: At least five more bullet-riddled, tortured and gunny bags-stuffed bodies were found in different city areas on Tuesday, police said.

More than 100 people have been killed in the fresh wave of violence that erupted on Aug 17 and no major action was seen being taken by the law-enforcement agencies.

The police said a young man was found shot dead earlier in the morning in the Malir area.

They said the body of 28-year-old Faisal Sheikh was found near Gharibabad with a single bullet wound in the head.

“He lived in Khokhrapar No 4 and had been missing since Monday evening,” said Inspector Ali Hasan Sheikh, the SHO of the Malir City police station. “We firmly believe that he was killed somewhere else and his body was dumped at an isolated place.”

A case (FIR 233/2011) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unknown persons on the complaint the victim’s father, he added. The body of a young man was found in Orangi Town’s Qasba Colony.

The Pirabad police said the body found near Faqeer Mor in Qasba Colony was stuffed in a gunny bag, which also had a piece of paper marked ‘peace or war’.

They said that the victim was wearing shalwar-kameez. The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification after completing medico-legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Two bodies were also found in as many areas in Pak Colony.

The police retrieved a trussed-up body stuffed in a gunny bag from the Lyari river in the Jehanabad area.

The victim was clad in shalwar-kameez with hands and legs tied with pieces of a rope. He was shot twice in the chest and head.

Another body was found in the Dhobi Ghat area. The victim was wearing black pants and a plain shirt.

“Both victims look young and remained unidentified,” said Inspector Shakeel Sherwani, the SHO of the Pak Colony police station.

Milkman shot dead

A young milkman was shot dead in the Landhi area in an early morning armed attack.

An official at the Shah Latif police station said that 26-year-old Bahadur Ali came under firing minutes after he left his farmhouse near the Murghi Khana bus stop in Sector 2-C.

“He was hit in the head and died on the spot. The body was handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre,” he added.

Five suspects held

The police claimed to have recently arrested five suspects allegedly involved in targeted killings in the city.

An official said four of the suspects — Shahnawaz, Naeem, Rafiq and Mustafa — were members of a criminal gang operating in Lyari.

“They are involved in kidnappings and targeted killings in Karachi. Further investigations are under way,” said a police statement.

Another statement issued from the Central Police Office reads: “Saeedabad police arrested Abdul Ghaffar from Saeedabad area, who was involved in target killings in the city and member of MQM (A)”.

It said the suspect was involved in the murder of Yasir, who was kidnapped in a market in Saeedabad a few days back.
