KARACHI, June 27: A judicial magistrate on Monday remanded a suspect in police custody in the case pertaining to the killing of a grandson of the late Nawab Akbar Bugti and five other people in an armed clash that broke out in the small hours of Sunday during a dance party in the DHA.

The investigation officer produced Zahid Butt before court with some injuries and informed the magistrate that the suspect was among the 16 suspects allegedly involved in the bloody clash and two of them had been killed while 13 others were still at large. He requested the court to remand the suspect in police custody for interrogation.

The judicial magistrate (south), Anwar Ahmed Memon, remanded the suspect in police custody till July 2 and also directed the investigation officer to provide him necessary medical treatment.

The prosecution said a shoot-out erupted during a dance party held in a DHA bungalow in the early hours of Sunday between Talei Bugti and the organisers, which left Mr Bugti and five others dead.

A case was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempt to murder), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) and 34 (common intention) of the PPC at the Gizri police station.
