LAHORE, May 19: Police impounded six vehicles and 24 motorcycles during checking in Mughalpura, Shalimar and Gujjarpura areas on Thursday.

The checking was aimed at arresting suspected people and impounding tampered vehicles and motorcycles usually used in street crime.

SSP Operations Faisal Rana and Civil Lines SP Operations Omer Saeed supervised the newly-launched mobile checking system in the precincts of three police stations.

According to a Lahore police spokesman, Rana has been tasked with supervising the checking with the help of local police in each division on a daily basis.

He says that areas most affected by street crime will be the focus of the new checking mechanism.

The spokesman says police will act against rent-a-car and rent-a-motorcycle outlets during checking as criminals have been using rented cars and bikes in street crime.
