GHALANI, Feb 3: Ten more houses were razed in restive Mohmand tribal region as security forces continued search and clean operation on Tuesday.

The security forces also defused six bombs during the operation.

Official sources said that security forces pounded suspected militant hideouts in different areas of Pandyali and Dag Utmanzai. About ten houses including residence of a local militant commander were demolished in the area. The security forces also defused six explosive devices planted by suspected militants.

The ground force also made about fifteen kilometres advancement on the link road in Pandyali tehsil and targeted suspected militant positions. However, there was no stiff resistance from the militants as they had abandoned their houses and bunkers.

Helicopter gunships also continued to hover over the troubled areas in tehsil Pandyali.

However, there were no reports of shelling from any part of the tehsil.

Meanwhile, a retired subedar was injured in a mine blast in Sandokhel area of tehsil Lakaro. Residents of Spinki Tangi in tehsil Khwezai have started migrating to safer places owing to the growing tension in the area.

The political administration has called the elder of Autokhel on Wednesday for a meeting. They would be asked to clear their position and flush out militants from their area.
