ISLAMABAD, Jan 3: A PPP spokesperson said on Saturday that Sindh National Front chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto was trying to “politicise a criminal case against him” and his associates.

MNA Farahnaz Ispahani said that attempts by Mumtaz Bhutto to involve the government in an FIR against him launched by a media group, was a “sheer act of deceit in order to confuse the issue”.

She stressed that neither PPP nor the government had anything to do with the FIR as it was the result of “physical and verbal intimidation of media by persons associated with Mumtaz Bhutto’s party”.

“The government is only allowing the law to take its due course,” she added.

SHAZIA MARRI: Persecution of the media will not be tolerated under any circumstances, warned Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri in a statement issued in Karachi.

She said the government believed in fundamental rights and freedom of the press.—APP
