MIRPURKHAS: Inquiry ordered

Published December 15, 2008

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 14: DPO Muneer Ahmed Shaikh has ordered a probe into a case in which a teacher was implicated in a narcotics case by CIA police and appointed SPO Naseer Qureshi as inquiry officer after receiving a complaint from the teacher’s son on Saturday.

Mohammad Kamran of Hameedpura Colony said in his application to the DPO that his father Mohammad Shafi, a primary schoolteacher, was collecting hides in the colony on the Eid day when one Yousuf Mari approached him and told him that he could get more hides from his village, Patoyoon.

His father took Mari to Patoyoon on his motorcycle and met two men who were in a car near Lashkar Shah’s shrine, he said.

As he was exchanging Eid greetings with the two who were later identified as Shah Nawaz Brohi and Luqman Brohi, a head constable of CIA Zulfiqar Bhatti in plainclothes nabbed them and searched the car in which 80kg of charas was found, he said.

Mr Bhatti brought them to his residence in Gujno town where Shah Nawaz and Yousuf bought their freedom after bribing police officers. However, the police implicated his father along with Luqman Brohi in a narcotics case lodged at Town police station, Kamran said. He alleged that the police had returned 60kg of Charas to the accused and demanded an impartial inquiry into the case.
