Disabled persons hold rally

By Our Correspondent

JACOBABAD, Dec 3: A large number of physically disabled people held a rally here on Wednesday to mark the World Disabled Persons Day.

Led by Bashir Ahmed Mirani, Tariq Brohi, Umer Pathan and Qalandar Bux Panhwar they also observed token hunger strike outside the press club for two hours in protest against a Baitul Maal officer.

They told journalists that the officer had not paid them money from the fund reserved for the disabled.

They alleged that Baitul Maal officials were disbursing money among their favourites. They had complained to DCO who promised to them that they would be paid funds but the promise was never fulfilled, they said.

They warned that if they did not receive funds, the disabled persons of Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur and Jacobabad would protest at Bhutto’s shrine in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.

RALLY: A large number of government and private doctors held a rally to protest against the kidnapping of Dr Abdul Hameed Kehar on Wednesday. The rally led by Dr Mehtab Qureshi, Dr Wajid Bhutto, Dr Babu Khurrana and Dr Sher Mohammad started from the Civil Hospital and reached the press club after marching on main roads.

The protesters said that a month had passed to Abdul Hameed Kehar’s kidnapping but police had still no clue to his whereabouts. They demanded early recovery of Dr Kehar.
