ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: The Korean pair of Kim Hae Sung and Shin Jung Yoon outclassed Treta Bhattacharyya and Venkatesha Poojashre of India to lift the doubles title of the first ITF Pakistan Women’s Future Tennis Circuit played at the PTF Tennis Complex on Friday.
The Koreans claimed the title after a gruelling struggle that lasted an hour and a half finally winning 6-1, 6-3.
The Korean duo built up the winning lead 5-0 in the first set breaking the second and fourth game of Treta and Poojashree with excellent interception at the net winning the first set 6-1.
In the second set Kim and Shin built up the lead 2-0 breaking the first game of the Indian pair. Treta and Venkatesha leveled the score three all breaking sixth game of Korean pair.
At the deciding point with the help of cross court winner Hae and Jung broke the game of Treta at 15-40 and won the second set 6-3. Both the Indian players displayed long rallies and cross court from the baseline but the Korean pair were good at the net.
This was the first title for Hae and Jung and both players received a cash prize of US$ 637 each.
The singles final between Kim Hae-Sung of Korea and Venkatesha Poojashree from India will be played on Saturday.—Sports Reporter
