Inter-school baseball tourney

LAHORE, Nov 13: Sixteen schools from all over the country will take part in the National Inter-School Baseball Championship to be held from Nov 15 to 17.

The President of Pakistan Baseball Federation, Shaukat Javed disclosed at a press conference on Thursday that the winning team would not only get Rs50,000 as cash prize but it will also represent the country in the Asian U-13 baseball championship to be held in Hong Kong from Dec 24.

He said schools from Karachi, Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Gojra, Mailsi and Rawalpindi had confirmed their participation while no entries were received from NWFP.

He said the matches would be of six-innings-a-side.

He further pointed out that last time the federation had sent an U-12 team to Japan seven years ago and now seven players from that team were representing the national team.

The president further said that the national team would play the qualifying round of the Asian championship in the Philippines in March next year.
