Squatters evicted from state land

KHANEWAL, Oct 8: The district administration on Wednesday got vacated 44 kanal state land worth Rs60 million from illegal occupants.

Officials told Dawn the district task force got vacated the state land adjacent to the tehsil office building from illegal occupants.

Earlier, the Revenue Department issued notices to illegal occupants and told them to vacate the land, but they didn’t.

On Tuesday afternoon, a team, led by Khanewal District Coordination Officer Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq, demolished almost 50 houses and a poultry farm constructed illegally on the state land and took hold of it. The occupants of the land staged a protest against the operation.
