THATTA, Oct 3: Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza said that the government would induct 10,000 youths in the police department every year to improve law and order situation in Sindh.

Addressing a press conference at the residence of provincial minister Abdul Jalil Memon here, Mr Mirza said that he was not sure whether Police Order 2002 would be abolished; however, he had recommended some amendments to it.

Confirming reports about assigning Tariq Aziz, the aide of the former president, Pervez Musharraf, with an important task in the federal government, he said that the PPP government wanted to avail his expertise.

Refuting the existence of Taliban in Sindh he said, the network of the state was powerful enough and there existed no Taliban in Sindh.

The home minister admitted that number of police personnel was not sufficient in the districts of Thatta and Badin.

Our Badin correspondent adds: Talking to delegations of people and businessmen at his residence at Hasnain Mirza Agriculture Farm, the minister said several agencies including the police force had been actively working to control the situation hence people were celebrating Eid without any fear.

The minister lauded the efforts of the police for making security arrangement during Eid and said that the government was committed to eliminate terrorists for which a regular force and law enforcement agencies were engaged.

To a question, he said Sindh had remained deprived of its rights but now time had come to dispense justice to the people of Sindh.
