Five ‘outlaws’ arrested

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Oct 3: Police arrested on Friday five people in Hazargangi area of the city for their alleged involvement in kidnappings for ransom, sectarian killings and other criminal activities.

DIG (operations) Rehmatullah Niazi told reporters that police had information about the presence of the gang but were waiting to arrest most of its members.

“We have collected proof about their links with terrorist organisations involved in sectarian killings and other subversive activities in Balochistan,” he said.

Police seized a large number of arms, including rocket launchers, hand-grenades, AK-47 rifles and around 20 kg explosive used for blasts.

Initial investigation said the gang had kidnapped many people in the city and released them on payment of ransom.

Mr Niazi said they had obtained some useful information and other members of the gang would be held soon.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed when a landmine exploded near Dera Murad Jamali area of Nasirabad district.
