KARACHI, July 7: At least six people, including a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and a police constable were killed on Monday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police and witnesses said.

Zaman Town police said that the bullet-riddled body of an unidentified young man was found at a desolate place near Bilal Masjid in Korangi No 5.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where sources said the victim was in his early 20s. They said the man received six bullets in his upper torso from a very close range as most of them went through his body.

The police said the victim was shot somewhere else by the culprits, who threw his body at a desolate place.

Bandits kill young man

An 18-year-old man was shot dead on Bohri Road near Customs House.

Kharadar police said the young man was shot by bandits who wanted to rob him of his mobile phone.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where the victim was identified as Saqib, son of Abdur Rahman, resident of Musa Lane.

Hospital sources said the victim was shot a single bullet in his chest which proved fatal.

The police said the victim was the owner of a cellphone shop.

A case was registered against unknown bandits on the complaint of the victim’s elder brother, Mohammed Asif.

Policeman shot dead

A 25-year-old constable was shot dead near Tibet Centre on M.A. Jinnah Road.

Preedy police said Naeem Tanoli, son of Anwar Tanoli, was standing at the bus stop where unknown attackers opened fire on him. They said the victim died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where sources said the victim received two bullets in his upper torso.

The police said the constable was posted at Police Headquarters, Garden.

Preedy police have registered a case against unknown culprits on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Nadeem Tanoli.

Muttahida men killed

Two young men were shot dead in the small hours of Monday in Yousuf Plaza.

The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the victims were identified as Amir, son of Azeem, and Fahim Siddiqui.

The police said Amir was a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Siddiqui was a party supporter. Amir was a resident of Faridabad and Siddiqui lived in Buffer Zone.

They said the two were engaged in their work at their denting and painting workshop when unknown attackers came there and sprayed them with bullets.

The police registered a case against unknown assailants on the complaint of the victims’ friend, Syed Mohammed Ali.

Passer-by killed

A passer-by was killed in a firing incident near Karachi Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market, better known as New Sabzi Mandi, off the Super Highway.

Sachal police said some people exchanged fire near the terminal of Shalimar Coach following a quarrel between transporters and passengers.

They said a stray bullet hit the passer-by who died instantly.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the victim was identified as Mohammed Khan, son of Masoom Khan, 40, resident of Shafique More, North Karachi.

The police said the victim was a labourer.
