Daska iron industry in tatters

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, July 7: Dozens of surgical forging instrument and iron-rod selling units in Daska city have been closed down owing to sky-rocketing prices of petrol, iron and other basic raw materials.

Some of the owners talking to Dawn here on Monday expressed the fear that more units would be shut down if the prevailing situation continued to persist it would render hundreds of industrial workers and labourers jobless.

They said the rising cost of production owing to costly inputs had created serious financial crisis for the Daska’s iron industry.

They demanded of the government to take steps to save the industry from total collapse.
