ISLAMABAD, July 3: Leader of House in the Senate and a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart Raza Rabbani on Thursday called for a thorough probe into the issue of mix-up in the calculation of gas prices.

In a statement issued from his Parliament House office here, Mr Rabbani said, “attempts are being made to undermine the policies of the coalition government by various cartels formed during the previous PML-Q government” such as banks, cement, sugar, wheat and fertiliser companies in collaboration with various sections of bureaucracy which till today continued to represent the “wastage of the past regime”.

“The mix-up in the calculation of gas prices could be a part of such a conspiracy,” he said, adding that the matter should be investigated thoroughly by the coalition government or a parliamentary committee so that those involved could be identified and charged in accordance with the government rules.

Mr Rabbani vowed that the coalition government was committed to allowing the working classes to exercise their constitutional rights of trade union activities in their respective organisations.—Staff Reporter
