By Our Correspondent

ATTOCK, June 3: Acting district police officer Raja Hassan Akhtar awarded punishments to 10 police officials including three sub-inspectors (SI) for misconduct and dereliction of duty.

According to the district police headquarters, one-year’s services of SIs Noor Khan, Nadeem Abbas of Saddar police and SI Tariq Mehmood, ASI Mohammad Kashif and head constable Mohammad Altaf of Fatehjhang police were forfeited on charges of keeping a taxi driver in illegal confinement and misappropriating his money.

The Regional Police officer Region III Nasir Khan Durrani on May 23 had suspended the five police officials.

The RPO had directed the DPO to issue show-cause notices and take departmental action against them.

Taxi driver Amir Khan lodged a complaint with the RPO on May 3 that he was illegally arrested and his vehicle impounded by the police officials on April 21. He alleged that the policemen also took Rs18,000 from him. After three days of illegal confinement he was released and 13,800 were returned to him. But the policemen kept the remaining amount and the taxi’s audio player, he added.

Meanwhile, the acting DPO also issued censure to ASIs Zafar Abbas, Sajjad Hussain Shah of Basal police, Khan Mohammed of Hasanabdal police, Mohammad Aslam of Fatehjhang and Akram Hussain of Hazro police for their unsatisfactory performance and showing negligence in the investigation of cases.
