NAWABSHAH, May 9: Residents of Nawabshah city are experiencing hardship in sizzling summer due to shortage of water after closure of Gajrah Canal under water rotation programme.

The Nusrat irrigation division officials said that the Nusrat canal and other linked systems were closed from May 8 to 16 due to shortage of water.

Residents of Mannuabad, Society, Azeem Colony, Hussaini road, Maryam road, Taj Colony, Mehran Colony, Qazi Ahmed Morr, camp No. 2, Mohini Bazaar, Gharibabad, Bhangwar Colony, Doulat colony were among the worst sufferers.

More than one dozen water filtration plants installed in different parts of the city have also been affected due to non-availability of water from the canal which will remain closed for 10 days.

ARREST: Nawabshah police claimed to have busted a motorcycle robbers gang and recovered motorcycles and arms from their possession here on Friday.

The Taluka Police Officer Nawabshah, Aslam Langah, told newsmen at a press conference here on Friday that taking notice of the increasing incidents of motorcycle snatching in the city, a team was constituted which, on a tip off, arrested

Nadeem Memon, the gang leader of snatchers and after interrogation, the police also arrested three accomplices namely Khuda Bux, Aftab Soomro and Nisar Bhurgari.
