Five killed in tribal clash

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, April 28: Five people were killed, three injured, and two women and a minor girl kidnapped in an armed clash between Bhutto and Shar tribes. The incident took place in Khamiso Shar village near Ubauro on Monday

According to reports a group of armed Bhutto tribesmen raided Khamiso Shar village and opened indiscriminate firing. They also kidnapped Ms Latifan Shar, Ms Kariman Shar, and seven-year old Farzana Shar.

In retaliation Shar tribesmen raided Bhutto village and opened fire which was returned by the Bhutto tribesmen. As a result of firing Allah Dino Shar, Muhammad Hussain Shar, Wahid Bux Solangi, Ghulam Rasool Bhutto and Muhammad Nawaz Bhutto died on the spot while three others were injured.

Panic, harassment and tension prevailed in the area with people confining to their homes while firing continued till the filing of report. A heavy contingent of police sealed the area off but were reluctant to enter into the troubled spot, said the sources.

The SPO Ubauro Mushtaque Khoso when contacted told Dawn that only two people had been killed in the exchange of firing and two others sustained injuries. He confirmed the kidnapping of two women and a girl.

However, area people claimed that five people lost their lives and three got injured.

The clash is said to be the result of a three-month-old land dispute which had so far claimed seven lives from both sides.
