Demand for abolition of quota system
By Our Correspondent
QUETTA, April 28: The Pakhtunkhwa Students Organisation has demanded abolition of quota system in the educational institutions, including professional colleges, so that admissions are given on the basis of merit.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Ahmed Jan, senior secretary, and Hamid Ali Shah, secretary of the PSO, said they would foil the conspiracy to continue the current admission policy of the Information and Technology University of Balochistan.
They said that hundreds of talented students had been deprived of admissions due to the current policy.
PSO representatives rejected the Model University Ordinance and demanded revival of the Balochistan University Act 1996.
They expressed concern over closure of hostels of the Government Science College and the Government Degree College, Quetta, and demanded their immediate reopening.
