‘Hot line’ for journalists on the cards, says minister

KARACHI, April 27: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman has said that a special ‘hot line’ is being set up on which journalists will be able to contact the authorities in the event of their facing violence or any emergency situation.

She was talking to media personnel after visiting a camera-person of a private TV channel, who was injured during the April 9 violence in Karachi.

She said a summary had been formulated to establish a fund to provide relief to journalists. She also urged the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) to arrange insurance cover for journalists.
