By Our Correspondent
NAWABSHAH, April 27: A heatwave continued to grip the city and other parts of the district on Sunday.
The weather remained extremely hot in Nawabshah district with the maximum temperature recorded by the local metrological office rising to 46 degree Celsius.
Mohammad Ibrahim at Met office told Dawn that the hot weather would continue and the temperature would further increase in a couple of days.
Meanwhile, business activities were reduced due to the scorching heat as people preferred to remain indoors.
Sale of ice, soft drinks, juices and fruits was increased.
PTCL CRITICISED: The Jamaat-i-Islami, Nawabshah chapter, has criticised the inflated billing and reduction of local call duration to two minutes by the PTCL authorities.
In a press release issued here, the JI leaders said that inflated telephone bills had been issued for the month of April.
They said they had also received several complaints from people that despite not opting for a facility package, Pakistan Package, its charges were included in their bills. They said that a number of customers had also complained about excess number of local calls in their bills.
They said that local PTCL officials had explained to them that the number of local calls had been increased after the duration of a local call was reduced to two minutes from 5 minutes.
