TIMERGARA: Sufi vows to honour agreement

TIMERGARA, April, 27: The founder of the defunct Tehrik Nifaz Shariat-i-Muhammadi (TNSM), Maulana Sufi Mohammad, has said that his organisation would honour the agreement reached with the government and would not violate it.

In his first brief interview to Dawn after his release at his seminary here on Sunday, Sufi said that an important meeting of TNSM central executive body would be convened on May 15 to discuss its future line of action and its struggled for the enforcement of Shariah. He said that venue for the meeting would be decided later.

To a question, he said all important decisions regarding situation in Swat and their future line of action would be announced after the meeting. He said that the decisions made in the meeting would be made public during a press conference.

Sufi did not comment on the situation in Waziristan and Mardan, saying these areas were out of the Malakand region.

About the Swat situation, the Maulana said: “Insha Allah, all things will be okay. We will continue our peaceful struggle for the enforcement of Shariah and no one would be allowed to sabotage this peaceful effort.”
