SWABI, April 25: A man who was released in 2005 from the jail in Guantanamo Bay was picked up reportedly by personnel of secret agencies while he was on his way home here on Thursday.

Israrul Haq belongs to the Panjpaoo Kharai area of the Topi tehsil.

Sources said Mr Haq had gone to Mardan with some family members and relatives. On Thursday, they were coming from Mardan when some people in police uniform stopped their coach near the Gohati bus stop on the Swabi-Mardan road and asked Mr Haq to come down. They took away Mr Haq in a vehicle and let the other passengers go, said the sources. Since then, they added, Mr Haq’s whereabouts were not known. They said it was not clear why Mr Haq was arrested again.

When contacted, police officials said they did not know about the arrest of Mr Haq but the sources said he had been taken to Mardan from where he might be shifted to some other place.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that two other people, Sherosh Khan and Ghulam Nabi, also from Topi, have also been arrested by agencies and have been shifted to undisclosed locations.
