Lawyers boycott courts

ISLAMABAD, April 24: The lawyers of Islamabad, Attock and Chakwal on Thursday boycotted court proceedings and staged rallies in favour of deposed judges.

The lawyers of Islamabad in their rally, which was led by President of Islamabad Bar Association, Haroon-ur-Rasheed on the premises of Islamabad Court demanded restoration of deposed judges in line with Murree Declaration and within the timeframe of thirty days.

ATTOCK: Lawyers observed complete strike in connection with their ongoing struggle for the restoration of all deposed judges and supremacy of judiciary.

They boycotted the courts and stayed in the district bar and their respective chambers through out the day, reports our Attock correspondent.

While talking to local newsmen the president district bar Association Attock Rana Afsar Ali khan and member Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Sheikh Ahsanuddin advocate said that no minus one formula would be acceptable for the restoration of deposed judges as it would be against the norms of Murree Accord. Lawyers fraternity would not compromise on the reinstatement of all deposed judges including deposed chef justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

They expressed the hope that the deposed judges would be restored according to the Murree Accord inked between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Chakwal: The lawyers of District Chakwal observed complete strike on Thursday and boycotted the courts at Chakwal, Talagang and Choa Saiden Shah, reports PPI.

Two lawyers Tahir Abbas and Aqeel Ahmed Janjua staged hunger strike camp at the District Bar Chakwal. They chanted anti- Musharraf slogans and expressed their solidarity with the deposed judges.

The president Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi Sardar Asmat Ullah Khan, Secretary General Siddique Awan and Vice President Sanaullah Zahid visited District Bar on Thursday and while talking to District Bar Chakwal, they were of the view that no minus one formula would be acceptable to the lawyers community and they were confident that all the deposed judges would be restored according to the Murree declaration.

They said that the reduction in the judges tenure would not be accepted.

The lawyers leaders categorically declared that if the deposed judges were not restored by April 30 then Pakistan Bar Council would decide future line of action on May 3 in its emergent meeting.
