KARACHI: Order on bail plea of Afaq reserved

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 23: An additional district and sessions court, east, reserved its order on a bail application of Muhajir Quami Movement-Haqiqi chairman Afaq Ahmed in two cases lodged against him for allegedly possessing illegal weapons and explosives.

Judge Abdul Rahmen Bhatti reserved his order till Thursday after the prosecution did not oppose the plea.

Police had registered the two cases (FIRs 104/2005 and 105/2005) against the applicant under Section 13-E of the Arms Ordinance 1965 and Sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Explosive Act.

According to the prosecution, two men booked under Section 13-D of the Arms Ordinance, when interrogated, disclosed that Afaq Ahmed had called them in Defence. They said he had allegedly handed over arms and explosives, directing them to store these in the Landhi area.

The defence counsel said both cases were based on the statement of the two accused booked earlier in separate cases. He said his client was implicated in the case on political considerations.
