19 interviewed for police slots
LAHORE, April 19: At least 19 police officers on Saturday appeared before a ‘selection board’ at Sharif’s Jati Umra residence seeking their postings as heads of police ranges and DPOs.
The selection committee headed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Mian Shahbaz Sharif comprised Punjab Chief Secretary Javed Mehmood, IG Shaukat Javed and advisor to Punjab chief minister on law and order former IGP Jehanzeb Berki.
Sources said among the police officers who were interviewed were four deputy inspector generals (DIGs), five senior superintendents of police (SSPs) and 10 superintendents of police (SPs).
Those who were interviewed were DIG (Traffic) Ghalib Ali Bandesha, DIG (CID) Mushtaq Sukhera, DIG (R&D) Malik Khuda Baksh Awan and DIG (training) Muhammad Abid Qadr and SSP (operations/administration) Farooq Mazhar Khan, (SSP) Rao Sikandar, AIG (Finance) Abubakar Khuda Baksh, IB Punjab Director Shafeeq Ahmed Gujjar and AIG (operations) Zulfikar Hameed. The SPs who were interviewed were: AIG (Logistics) Rai Tahir, SP (headquarters Punjab Highway Patrolling) Riaz Garha, Cantonment SP Ahmed Kamal, Humayun Bashit Tarar, Akbar Nasir Khan, Aro Abdul Karim, Mirza Shakeel, Khaliq Dad Lak, former PSO to IGP Shahzad Sultan and Khurram Ali Shah.
Sources further said interview of SP Zubair Nawaz Chattha was held on Friday.
Two SSPs of National Highway & Motorway Police- Dr Arif Mushtaq and Dr Shoaib Dastgir did not reach for the interview while interview of Special Branch Lahore division SSP Aamir Zulfikar Khan is likely to be held on Monday.
The sources said final selections for the districts would be made after more interviews to be held in the coming days.
