MARDAN, April 17: Truckers blocked the Mardan-Swabi Road to protest against a robbery here on Thursday morning.

The two truckers identified as Nusrat Shah and Mumtaz Khan, residents of Landi Kotal, who initially blocked the road, said they were held up by robbers in the jurisdiction of Shahbaz Garhi police station when they were transporting marbles in their truck (DKG-138) from the nearby mountains.

They said that the robbers snatched Rs17,000 and their mobile sets and also manhandled them. Later, they were joined by drivers of the public transport and motorists to protest the rising incidents of robbery on the road.

The protesters lifted the road blockade after two hours, on the assurance of the police that the robbers would be arrested soon.
