QUETTA, April 16: The administration of the Balochistan University has said that it dismissed two teachers from services on the recommendations of inquiry committees for violation of rules and regulations.

It said in a statement that action against Agha Muhammad Nasir had been taken on the basis of two reports.

It said that according to the chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Mr Nasir’s doctorate degree was fake and he had not been taking class for a long time.

The other teacher, Zakir Hussain Jadoon, worked for some time as acting principal of Law College, Quetta, but he was found negligent in duty and was accused of embezzling Rs 200,000.

He was sacked on the basis of an inquiry report.

The university administration said that the governor-cum-chancellor, being the appellate authority, had provided them an opportunity to prove their innocence, but they chose the path of agitation and hunger strike.

Mr Nasir has been on hunger strike for an indefinite period, demanding his and the other teacher’s reinstatement and repeal the University Model Ordinance and University Act of 1996.
